Patrick began training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in 2007 and received his Black Belt from Professor Finnie McMahon in August, 2019. Upon moving to Lander, Patrick began training Judo under Sensei Marcio Paes Barreto and received his Ikkyu rank in June, 2022. Patrick also has experience training Muay Thai kickboxing and Mixed Martial Arts. For his day job, Patrick is an educator for a local school district.
Brian Barrett has been training Judo and Jui jitsu since the beginning of this club’s formation in 2015 with the founder Marcio Paes Barretto. He is proud to be this dojo’s student number one. He currently helps run Windriver dojo with two other board members; coaching, cleaning and constructing as needed.
Kyle has been training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu since 2017. With a strong passion for grappling, he focuses on incorporating Judo techniques into his instruction. Attempting to blend a strong stand up game with an equally strong ground game. He focuses on helping students develop solid fundamentals, effective techniques, and a deeper understanding of both BJJ and Judo. Kyle works as a Technology Director for Fremont CSD #14.
Dominick has been training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Judo since 2021. Prior to joining Wind River Dojo, Dominick wrestled for 6 years and is currently an assistant coach for a local wrestling program. For his day job, Dominick is a full time paramedic for the county.
Jessica has been training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Judo since 2022 at Wind River Dojo. She has been an advocate for women within the gym and has been involved in a research project creating trauma-informed guidelines for martial arts gyms. For her day job, Jessica is a paramedic and training administrator for the local ambulance service.
Uri has been training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Judo since 2017 under Patrick Hall and Marcio Paes Barreto at Wind River Dojo. Uri has been teaching kids classes since 2022. For his day job, Uri is a civil engineer.
Ryan has been training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu since the fall of 2022. Prior to joining Wind River Dojo, Ryan trained mixed martial arts for two years and earned a blue belt in Taekwondo during college. Ryan’s main goal is to help kids have fun while developing confidence in themselves as they mature. For his day job, Ryan is an instructor of English at Central Wyoming College.
Tony has always had an interest in combat sports. He began formal training in 2017 at “The Squared Circle” gym in Inwood, WV. Tony has trained both BJJ and boxing under instructors like Derek English, Lionell Royer, Steve Turel, and Professor Bob Gibson. Tony began training at WRD in February of 2023. During the day, he is an outside plant telecommunications engineer.
Wesley has been training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu since the fall of 2022. He first became interested in Jiu Jitsu after reading The Way of the Warrior Kid books by Jocko Willink. Wesley has a desire to assist with kids’ Jiu Jitsu classes because he believes the sport helps young kids stay in shape and develop endurance. Wesley doesn’t have a day job because he’s still in high school!
